Event experience

Everyone's 3-Day experience is different ... there are some things you can expect, in general terms. Check out our take on Opening Ceremony, the Route, Cheering Stations, Camp, Closing and the Aftermath.

Day 0
For the BC Babes, the 3-Day experience starts with Day 0 -- Crew day, dress rehearsal (if you're in the Opening Ceremony) and the team dinner. It's a great chance to get into the Pink Bubble.

Opening Ceremony

An incredibly emotional kickoff for the event, the Opening Ceremony reminds us all why we're here. Though the event will vary from year to year, you can expect some touching moments honoring those lost to breast cancer, a beautiful display of flags reminding us of the reasons we walk, and a little motivation to keep going strong during the coming days.

Tips for opening ceremony:
  • Bring a list of people you walk in memory of -- you can add their names to the white remembrance flag that is flown during opening ceremony. It's also a great photo op for people who have made a donation in memory of a loved one.
  • Arrive early for photos. There are so many opportunities -- in front of the displays, in front of the
  • Bring plenty of tissues. You're going to need them.

The Route
Before the event, you'll get a general idea of where we're walking when Komen releases the general route:
  

Each morning, you'll get a route card with the more detailed information. You still won't know exactly where you're going, but at least you'll know when you're there!

One important note about the route card:  See that little asterisk at the bottom that says "Mileage may not be exact" ?  Well, you can count on that. It won't be exact. You probably don't want to know the exact mileage either.

Along the route, you'll encounter "Walker Stalkers."  Contrary to what the name implies, these folks will become your best friends on the walk. They come in all shapes and sizes, but some show up every year, some of them you'll encounter at various points in the day, and some will follow you around all three days. No matter their method, they're
